Retail & Employees Break Room in Retail: Coffee, Water, and Employee Provisions In retail, breaks are short, teams rotate, and storage space is often limited. A well-organized break room must therefore be easy to restock, low-maintenance, and tailored to the actual consumption of the store. Short Answer For a functional break room, stores need coffee, tea, water, milk, sugar, cups or mugs, paper towels, dish soap and cleaning supplies, as well as suitable trash bags. Fixed minimum stock levels and clearly assigned responsibility prevent shortages. Which items are part of the basic equipment? Area Typical Needs Beverages Coffee, tea, water, milk and sugar Kitchen Cups, mugs, cutlery, napkins and paper towels Cleaning Dish soap, cloths, sponges and surface cleaner Disposal Waste bins, separation systems and trash bags Plan consumption by store and shift City center stores, specialized markets, and small sales outlets have different team sizes and opening hours. In addition to the coffee itself, milk, sugar, stirrers, or cups should also be part of the core assortment. Typical mistakes Only coffee is ordered, but no cleaning and kitchen supplies Every store uses different products without reason Supplies are only reordered when completely used up No one is responsible for machine maintenance Overly large packaging units block limited storage space Checklist for stores Record team size and opening hours Define basic assortment Observe weekly consumption Determine minimum and maximum stock levels Designate responsibility and substitute Store order list per store Regularly check stock Frequently asked questions How much coffee should a store stock?
